On June 15 1999 I had the honor of purchasing the Joe DiMaggio Memorabilia Estate.
Working with Mr. DiMaggio's friend and attorney Morris Engelberg who was in preliminary discussions with, among others, Christie's auction house and the QVC television network, I was able to secure one of the worlds largest and greatest baseball memorabilia collections.
One of my fondest memories as a child was going to Yankee stadium with my father to watch Joe glide around the bases and roam the vast outfield of Yankee Stadium. My love for Joe and baseball began. 50 plus years later it continues. Acquiring the DiMaggio Estate made these memories come to life once again. Joe exemplifies what baseball is all about. This is truly a celebration.
Joe DiMaggio was truly the definition of the word Legend. His remarkably consistent play was exemplified by his 56-game hitting streak, a record many believe will never be broken. The "Yankee Clipper" led his NY Yankee's to 10 American league Pennants and 9 World Series championships. "Joltin Joe" lived the American Dream on and off the field.
The total Inventory of DiMaggio items was over 10,000 individual items. Most have been sold. Included in the Estate were autographed baseballs, lithographs, prints, domes, cards, bats and uniforms. Each item came with its own unique Certificate of Authenticity from the DiMaggio Estate.
